OAKVILLE REAL ESTATE
Tranquil hamlet, home to the world-famous To Kalon Vineyard.
WELCOME TO OAKVILLE
Oakville is one of Napa Valley’s smallest communities, with just 70 residents calling this mini-hamlet home. Despite Oakville’s small size, it plays a huge role in Napa Valley’s wine industry. More than fifty wineries are either located within Oakville or source their grapes from this area’s fertile soil.
Oakville’s soil has a gravelly, sandy texture with exceptional drainage, making the area incredibly well-suited to producing outstanding Bordeaux varietals. The Cabernet Sauvignon produced in Oakville is sought after by wine connoisseurs from across the world. It has notes of herbs and mints as well as firm tannins and rich texture characteristic of a Cabernet.
Oakville is a quiet and exclusive community that offers peace and tranquility. It is a wine-lover’s paradise with a laid-back and welcoming Californian lifestyle. Oakville is conveniently situated on Route 29, providing easy access to the many cultural and culinary attractions in nearby St. Helena and the other Napa Valley communities.
‘MOST BEAUTIFUL’ OAKVILLE
To Kalon Vineyard is the best-known of Oakville’s vineyards, and one of the most famous vineyards in the world. This legendary winery was one of the first in Napa Valley, with noted winemaker H.W. Crabb planting the first vineyards here in 1868.
To Kalon is a Greek phrase meaning ‘most beautiful,’ and visitors will quickly realize why the famous vineyard was given this name. To Kalon produces Napa Valley’s most sought-after and expensive Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The vineyard is home to several wineries, including Opus, Far Niente, and Silver Oak.
To Kalon’s most famous winemaker is Robert Mondavi, who has operated out of the vineyard since the 1960s. Mondavi’s winery was one of the first in Napa Valley to offer tours and wine-tasting sessions. Today, the exquisite old-world charm of this winery makes for the perfect place to sample a fine Cabernet Sauvignon paired with chocolate, cheese, or charcuterie. Mondavi’s winery is also a popular events space, hosting performances from well-known acts.
